In celebration of our love for all things miniature, and just in time for dropping temperatures, we hereby announce our first-ever group diorama show, Winter. The show opens November 19th and will remain on view into the new year.
CALL FOR ENTRIES: We welcome entries from the public. All dioramas must be meditations on the theme of "winter." The dioramas may be made from anything, including paper, wood, and mixed-media, and may range in scale from the tiniest-possible, to 2′x2′x2′. No limit of entries per person. Selections will be juried by the TLRH staff. We'll display the selected dioramas in our gallery in New Paltz and photos of the selections will appear online at our website.
DEADLINE: Please email a photo of your piece to tlrh (at) team-love.com on or before Monday November 7th. We'll notify selected artists by November 9th. If your piece is selected you must be able to ship or deliver the original piece to us before our installation day, Friday November 18th.
What exactly is a diorama? diorama, as defined by Mirriam-Webster: 1: a scenic representation in which a partly translucent painting is seen from a distance through an opening. 2 a : a scenic representation in which sculptured figures and lifelike details are displayed usually in miniature so as to blend indistinguishably with a realistic painted background. b : a life-size exhibit (as of a wildlife specimen or scene) with realistic natural surroundings and a painted background.
The possibilities are endless.
